Incorporating original photographic images this painting on cradled wooden panel is created with layers of acrylic paint and makes use of the Image transfer technique.

Between the Bridges is following on from and part of the margins series, which focuses on places that are in a moment of transition from one state to another, neither developed nor wild, or both. A phrase I’ve adopted is Suburbex, much like the urban exploring of Urbex but because of restrictions of movements limited to suburban areas. I’ve enjoyed photographing and exploring images that previously I might have missed or overlooked in my enthusiasm for dramatic juxtapositions. These moments are all around us should we pay attention to them.

I liken it to the moment where fresh water meets salt water in a river mouth. A battle may ensue, but are both states of being dependant on each others differences in order to shine.

Shadow box framed in contemporary grey painted wooden frames, with hanging fittings on back. The size stated is for the artwork only.
