Created as part of the ‘Nowhere’ series of work inspired by a trip to the decommissioned point of Ayr colliery in Flintshire, North Wales.

This series bears witness to a moment of change no matter how subtle. I realised that what was once a thriving industrious landscape long since abandoned, was more than it’s recent history. One chapter had closed and another had taken it’s place, but the moment when that actually happened was impossible to put your finger on, as all places are in a state of constant flux. A cycle of renewal and reclamation was taking place, decay and growth happening simultaneously. and only really being a matter of opinion from an individual’s perspective.

As the redundant railway lines disappear into the near distance this captivating place temporarily reclaims its anonymity.

Incorporating original photographic images this painting on cradled wooden panel is created with layers of acrylic paint and monotype, using the Paper Lithography Technique.

This painting is fitted inside an L shaped shadow box frame which is inserted into an ornate swept frame in a traditional style, painted in a soft Little Green period colour.
