Something from the Archive. HTV interview newly converted to Digital

A lot of my archive from earlier on in my career consists of Colour slides and VHS .

Luckily I acquired a 35mm scanner to convert my black and white negatives and colour slides to digital files. It is both nostalgic and creative to revisit old images sometimes forgotten about and see how they fit into my current work practice.

Until recently I had completely forgotten about this TV Interview filmed around the year 2000. I had to send it away to get the original studio copy on VHS converted to MP4. As VHS does degrade I was very pleased with the result.

The Biggest thing to change however is how I talk about my work. I seam to talk in very simplified terms, (although I was very nervous). It makes me realise how much better I understand the how the where and the why of what I do and also how I understand myself.

So, talking to David Petersen about my then recent Installation project ‘Rainbow Bridge’ For the HTV production River Patrol, I try to explain how I believe that the viewer becomes part of the artwork through their participation in it.

The journey of the River Dee from beginning to end through the medium of art. I’ve edited this video just to show the Chester Part but the entire video is available to watch on my youtube channel featuring other artists.
